Match report for Wilmslow Albion 1st Team 1 - 2 home defeat to Hattersley FC (20/09/2008)
1st team lost 2-1 in a closely fought game against a robust Hattersley outfit. With only minutes of the game gone the visitors were gifted an early goal when the referee and linesman decided to award a penalty for a hand ball by Brookes, much to everybody’s amazement.
Albion were looking much more composed and organised than at any point so far this season, and continually pushed forward looking for the equaliser with Neary, Buckley and Charnley all going close.
Mid way through the second half Hattersley were again gifted a goal when a lack of communication between defenders and keeper allowed the forward to nip in and score. Albion pushed forward and got a goal back through a neat finish by Neary. With chances at either end the game came to a disappointing end when McGuire was sent off in a bizarre incident, final result 2-1 defeat.
